Can't adjust GPU clock speed using MSI Afterburner?
Hello ! I'm just a beginner here. I have a 3080 TI with three units, which is an overclocked version of the 3080TI. It seems like it gets too hot.
In some tougher games, the game will suddenly stop after a few hours, and then I have to lower the graphics settings. That works fine, but I don't want my GPU overheating every time. So I thought about using MSI Afterburner to bring the clock speed back to normal. But nothing seems to work.
When I change the "core clock" slider, apply it, and save it to my profile, the GPU speed shown in MHz stays the same (1710). If I restart my PC, those changes disappear even though I saved them.
On YouTube, others seem to have success with this method. I tried adjusting the settings to enable voltage control, but it didn't help much. Making a custom curve for fan speed did work, but it wasn't enough—especially when I had Total War 3 running on ultra with crashes after hours.
Hope this helps!
MSI Afterburner hasn't received any updates or fixes for a year now, and development seems to have ceased completely.
Oh, well it all makes sense then :') thank you very much for your help ! I will try reverting that "factory" overclock to the standard values for a 3080TI with rivatuner !
And yeah the GPU shouldn't revert the modifications since i'm actually trying to lower the clock speed x)
thanks !
