The backplate or bracket has come loose, only holding via screws from the cooler to the bracket. After a few years, the bracket no longer stays attached, and I’m unsure how to reattach the bracjet without removing the motherboard entirely. Any suggestions on securing it safely inside the case?

The bracket isn't firmly attached to the motherboard. Grip the bracket with your hand or position something behind it while the PC is tilted. Then install the cooler by pressing it against the motherboard until the bracket is secured.
