Some may be familiar with assembling a PC, but let's talk about the AMD Athlon X2 dual-core 2.8 GHz CPU paired with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630, DDR3 2 GB RAM, and a 1600 MHz system. Essentially, it has two fans that I purchased separately, so it should run smoothly even in extreme conditions like Antarctica. The power supply unit is adequate for this configuration.

Do you have any experience with similar builds, or at least a simulation of them? I intend to run games like Rust, Dota 2, and Battlefield 2. I don’t require high-end graphics, but a mid-range setup is sufficient. If needed, I plan to overclock the processor.

The main question is: will this system handle games at a decent quality in such an environment? If not, what upgrades should I prioritize first?

Try to secure the R7 250/x.

I don't believe you'll be able to use this setup.

The key improvements would be the graphics card and storage solution. Consider switching to an SSD and upgrading to a GTX 750. Right now, your system seems likely to hit a bottleneck with the graphics card.

I believe you’ll need to lower the graphics settings significantly.

It should work fine, though probably at lower performance levels. If your budget permits, consider an APU setup where you can repurpose parts for an APU configuration and still have the flexibility to upgrade later.

Stay calm, the risk of freezing your PC is low.

You could possibly run this game on reduced performance, though the experience won't be enjoyable. Consider upgrading your GPU to something more capable.

@ razoku this computer is not going to be able to handle anything really in terms of gaming. If you already have the CPU then you may as well use it but of you don't please don't get it. That CPU is basically 8 years or so old and won't perform well at all. Get at least an Athlon X4 750k or a recent Pentium. For the GPU, the R7 250X would be ok. But since you already seem to have the whole thing (probably from used parts or so...), here is my guess on how it will perform. Dota2 should be no problem. Battlefield 2 at reasonable settings should be fine too. Rust, I have no knowledge about.

I own a comparable setup. Keep in mind: if your rig falls short of any game's minimum specs, don't stress—you can still play, though performance will be limited. For instance, Watch Dogs will lag significantly, but remain functional at reasonable speeds. The same applies to other titles. Generally, you should be able to run the games listed at low to medium settings, except for Battlefield 2: Bad Company, which should handle high settings better. If you're serious about improving, upgrading to a quad-core Intel processor is recommended. Avoid AMD options—they tend to underperform. Regarding the graphics card, it should be adequate for now.
