Honestly, I don’t have much experience with VR. What I know is that I haven’t seen any tech youtuber or site really endorse it for that price. I could be completely mistaken, so I suggest doing some research first.

Your processor is locked for multiplayer so overclocking isn't possible right now. Is this a custom build or a preassembled PC you upgraded with a newer graphics card? Rather than investing 1k in the Index, think about improving your system first with the savings you've made. If you wait, you might be able to buy the Index for less later.

That's a valid observation. If you choose a more affordable VR headset, you can allocate the savings to purchase multiple PCs during the current sales period.

I’m planning to purchase the index around June. The system seems prebuilt, and the only upgrade I can make right now is increasing the RAM, which at 16GB already seems sufficient to me.
Edit: My main concern about the PC is the I5 processor, which feels inadequate for my usage. I also multitask frequently, which adds to the issue. This computer was a gift from a friend, so I’d feel guilty selling it. Even then, it’s been two years since I got it, making it more affordable now. The upgraded model costs about 1k and has an i7 processor—coincidentally. Still, I’m hesitant to sell it out of respect for the person who gave me this machine during such happy times. I’m trying to find a local IT professional to assist with this, but I haven’t been lucky enough to locate one yet.

Yeah, ike I said, I already have a decent headset, but I really want that "Next level experience" everyone keeps talking about, PC doesn't seem to be upgradable apart from the ram. It's prebuild so I'll try to find the exact specs or the product ID.

I'm really uncertain about doing things like that. I'm too afraid to make mistakes.

The i5-6400 at 3.1 GHz in games with four cores works well. It’s best to disable turbo boost and set it manually at 3.1 GHz in BIOS, adjusting the fan curve. This approach succeeded with my previous i5, achieving stable performance without overheating. Over the past three years, there have been no problems.

Also, configure your power plan to balanced in Windows 10 settings, and adjust the minimum and maximum processor states to 5% and 100%. This allows the CPU to reach 3.1 GHz during gaming while maintaining lower speeds otherwise.

The jump from 2.7 GHz to 3.1 GHz is quite noticeable, offering roughly a 13% boost in both speed and performance, though results may vary slightly.

My i5/1070 performs perfectly with VR.

I won't be taking any action right now, of course. A good computer would still set you back at least 1k even after discounts. I'll save up until Easter, when I'll finally have the funds.
