Hi,
I’m checking if it’s possible to overclock the CPU on my FX 8300 to 4.2 from 3.3. The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA 970 Gaming and I have a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO cooler. Thanks.

As long as the central temperatures remain below 70.5C, that's fine. A brief rise above that is okay. For those FX processors, monitoring the core Thermal Margin might be more useful than checking core temperatures. AMD Overdrive enables this approach:

Remember, thermal margin reflects temperature more accurately. Keep it above 0 and maintain a stable range in the double digits.
