Hey everyone, just checking if it's feasible to overclock an i7-860 using the DH55TC motherboard. Are the VRMs sufficient for this? If yes, do you need assistance with the process? I'm aiming for the highest possible overclock, limited only by the cooler's capacity. Thanks!
The i7-875K 4C/8T is an unlocked CPU. The i5-655K is 2C/4T and unlocked also.
Throttlestop software can control Volatge and multiplier on those.
Here's a thread on that method.

Probably the best chance for a high OC.
Here's an OC tutorialfor that MB. But w/o the Voltage control the unlocked CPUs provide 10% is about it.

It's possible that added cooling, and heatsinks on the VRM MOSFETs may allow more. Not sure.
Here are the builds on that. You can see which CPUs perform best.

The board offers only choices for modifying the FSB, which can provide some overclocking potential. Generally, 3.5GHz was typical as long as all other parts functioned properly, including the memory.
Ram presents an unusual scenario. The various brands are quite diverse. I’m considering either a 4x2gb or a 2x2gb plus 2x4gb setup, all from different manufacturers but maintaining a speed of 1333MHz.
A concern arises regarding the arrangement of memory modules: in one configuration, the modules are on both sides, while in another, they’re on just one side.
Very few people have tried the Throttlestop the unlocked CPU overclock method. Throttlestop does have a temperature display, and load test function. It's free so no cost to try it . When you overclock temperature goes up, when you raise the Voltage to overclock more, temperature goes up again. There is a whole world of aftermatket cooling solutions. But every computer is different.
