Hey, I noticed several solder pads for a SATA 6GB port on your DH61CR board. Would you like help soldering one onto it? I also have another board ready for transplants.

Welcome to the forum! It seems those ports might not be connected to a controller. Your board's SATA chipset likely isn't suited for them—especially if they're soldered in. For better performance, consider using a PCIe SATA card or HBA. The ports also require extra circuitry that needs soldering, like the SMD components nearby. TL; DR: You can't just add ports; you'll need a proper SATA solution.

Based on the empty trails to the left of the ports, it seems the device likely lacks additional parts needed for connecting to the pins.

There are valid reasons ports aren't included by default. For additional connections, consider using a PCI expansion card (though compatibility may vary).

they generally perform well, just adding another bus through the PCI-E port. a spring would be better if it costs more and has solid reviews, while cheaper options often don’t work properly or at all.

The H61 chipset is limited to four SATA 3Gb ports.
