I own a Kingston DDR 4 2133Hz 8GB memory module and I’m unable to locate another unit with a 2133Hz frequency nearby. I considered overclocking my current 2400Hz stick to acquire a non-overclocked one with 2400Hz, but I’m unsure if that would help. My goal is to upgrade to an 8GB RAM stick so I can comfortably run GTA 5. By the way, I have a few questions: GTA 5 is experiencing lag on my system, and when I open Task Manager to investigate, I notice the CPU is at full capacity. GTA 5 consumes about 2GB of my 8GB RAM. I’m wondering if overclocking my CPU would be the issue before purchasing additional RAM. Could overclocking damage my computer? Also, does GTA 5’s recommended spec require 8GB RAM, or is it that the game needs 8GB? God bless whoever reads this and provides answers, as they might resolve my concerns!

The recommended specs for GTA 5 indicate 8GB RAM. It means the game suggests having at least that amount installed, not that it actually uses 8GB. The minimum requirements are lower, around 4GB. Your current 8GB should be sufficient for most games at the moment.

Initially, I believe mixing RAM isn't a wise move, and attempting to overclock mixed RAM is problematic. Similarly, pushing RAM beyond its rated specifications is also not advisable. So, it seems you're likely facing some issues.

Regarding overclocking, proceed only if you're confident or risk damaging components.

Perhaps a better approach would be to upgrade the CPU or GPU based on your specific needs.

The recommended specs for GTA 5 indicate 8GB RAM. Does this imply the system needs at least 8GB, or is it about the game’s suggestion? The "recommended" amount is higher than the minimum needed, so your current setup should suffice for most titles. Could you share what graphics card you have? I’m curious if that might affect performance.
