I have a core i5 8400 with a vega 56. I'm struggling to run the game smoothly, often at 90% CPU usage. The performance is poor, and even lowering settings didn't help. I've tried reducing settings but nothing seems to improve.

8400 and vega 56 might be able to handle it, though the memory seems to be an issue

I tested the game on an i5 8400 with an overclocked GTX 970 at 1440p, using a combination of high and medium settings while maintaining a locked 30fps.

Same here. This CPU falls short. The Ryzen 2600 fails to handle AC Odyssey well, averaging 60-65 FPS in Athens, whereas the i5 8400 performs poorly at 40-45 FPS under the same conditions... It's really disappointing to see such results. Big regrets...

I ran the game on a 6700k processor paired with a 980ti and 32gb of 2700mhz RAM, achieving maximum performance and maintaining steady 70fps across the Odyssey world.
