I'm considering upgrading my HP notebook model 14-am059tu. The current i5-6200u processor at 2.3 Ghz feels a bit slow. Anyone know if it's possible to swap it with another 6th Gen Intel DDR4 chip? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This i5-6200u is a FCBGA chip, attached to the motherboard by soldering.

Thank you for being a budget-conscious shopper. I was about to add the i5 6500 to my cart, but my interest has faded now.

i5 6500 is a desktop CPU using the LGA1151 socket. i5-6200u is a mobile CPU with FCBGA1356 packaging. Desktop and laptop CPUs don't work well together, except in rare cases where the laptop CPU is attached to a custom PCB for desktop use.
