Downloaded Gears Of War 4 via Microsoft Store (Nvidia Code). Installed the game. Started the game and reached the main screen. Press Enter. Error: Log in to Xbox Live account failed. I’m confused about why this happens and how to fix it. Have tried multiple times recently, but results keep failing. I’m unsure if my Microsoft account is linked to Xbox Live or if I even have one. What’s going on? Help!

Create an Xbox account by opening the app and signing in with your Microsoft ID. Check if you can start the service directly through the app interface.

Jup, it doesn't seem to work either. It might be an issue with Xbox Live or something else. The Xbox Live status page looks normal.

I suggest selling your code. Downloading it is a hassle—60GB, then installing the game (requires 80GB plus setting up the Microsoft Store and possibly the Xbox app). Plus, some Xbox services are offline, making play impossible. You also can't connect it to Steam because Windows blocks access to the installation folder, which means you can't use launch.exe.

I was aware it would be a tough task. I’m hoping the Watch Dogs 2 promo code I received on my SSD will work more easily.

Yes, a local account can use the promo since you might choose that option too.
