Can you increase your CPU's speed beyond its default settings? (Issue with BIOS/Motherboard)
Hello! I'm trying to increase my CPU speed but couldn't find any BIOS settings. It seems the manufacturer (Lenovo) might have restricted those options. I'm hoping someone can assist me. Apologies for asking such a basic question!
No, they are asking you to purchase another machine, not extend the use of your current one. If you need adaptability, consider creating your own. That's disappointing. I plan to build my own soon, but I just wanted to try this one out. Thanks for the reply!
I own a 7700k with an Evga Z170 classified K model. I've never encountered a more perplexing BIOS setup. My father has a 6700k equipped with an MSI board that's overclocked to 4.8, featuring solid 72C on AIDA64.
I checked my OC tab and found adaptive mode plus an override option. The adaptive setting introduces another tab named "offset," which I had never come across before. I adjusted my VCore to 1.238 with an offset of +25 (based on Evga's OC guide for a 6700k). This has pushed my frequency up to around 4.6GHz, especially in turbo mode where it reaches 4.5GHz.
I'm currently running the Prime95 26.6 version, and temperatures have climbed between 75°C and 81°C—definitely too high for a single boost of just 0.1GHz above turbo.
My standard voltage is around 1.169V. Anyone has experience with EVGA boards overclocking the BIOS or understanding this offset feature?
