It seems the heat spreader likely doesn’t have an M.2 slot beneath it. Feel free to inquire further. Thanks.

It's not mainly designed as a heat spreader; it functions more like an RF can acting as a mini-Faraday cage. Typically, it's permanently soldered around the perimeter, making removal difficult. Most of the components are placed on the surface rather than deep enough to fit an M.2 E-key slot, I believe.

It's likely the device was soldered together. If you can access it, you won't find a standard m.2/mini PCIe Wi-Fi card—everything will be integrated and soldered, making it essentially a single unit.

I'm the electrical engineer—my eyes twitch. The module already has RF shielding! Why do you need more? Honestly, the external shield doesn’t appear to be a solid RF barrier (it wasn’t soldered tightly enough).

Absolutely right! That sticker revealed a hidden M.2 slot, which explained why Amazon seems to be using a PCIe card there.

I was fully expecting a genuine RF module rather than just repackaging an M.2. The via stitching around the whole can seemed excessive considering the shielded M.2 design. It’s possible, though, that I’m not familiar enough with RF and high-speed signaling to be sure. Curious to know how much you spent on it—I’m trying to determine the BOM cost for such a device.

The purpose is clear, just to confirm. You disassembled the Wi-Fi card, but you're wondering if you'll attempt an upgrade or something else.

I no longer required it on my PC and wished to transfer the card to my laptop. Sadly, I overlooked Lenovo's odd Wi-Fi card rules, leading to an unauthorized error when starting up.
