Only licenses for Windows 7 and newer are accepted. Look for a W7+ license or purchase a W10 key.

Based on the specifications of the XP box, it might work or might not support running Windows 10. You could upgrade to XP 7 at a low cost and then get a free upgrade to Windows 10 if you satisfy the necessary system requirements.

Also trimmed – you can purchase a Windows 10 license for a single use, usually for under $5 on sites like Ebay, especially if you’re buying from a non-certified seller. If your PC is pre-built and already has a license, it’s similar to the one I described earlier—tailored to that system’s hardware. Once there are enough changes to the system, the key will be rejected, so you’ll need to contact Microsoft to reinstall it.
