My laptop is a Lenovo E590. The specifications are:
- 8th gen Core i7-8565U Processor (1.80GHz 8MB)
- Radeon rx 550x 2 GB graphics (1176 MHz 128 Bit)
- 8 GB DDR4 RAM
I attempted to play GTA 4 but it ran with minimum graphics settings. Is it feasible to run Witcher 3 at medium settings? Can I make any adjustments to improve performance?
It should work fine in 720p.
Do you already have all these games?
You should probably be able to play it. At reasonable framerates and resolution? Probably not.
A 2GB Radeon GPU is quite weak, unfortunately.
I’d just give it a shot, you can always request a refund on Steam if it doesn’t work...
My advice would be to begin with 480p, using the lowest possible settings, and use Afterburner to keep an eye on the framerates. See how it performs; if it’s at least playable, increase the settings slightly and check again... If it still isn’t working, definitely go for a lower resolution.
It’s not that difficult to locate suitable settings for most games on low-end hardware, but they’re usually much lower than people assume, and Witcher 3 is a demanding title.
Tldr: just give it a try!
Yes, but that GPU will prevent you from adjusting multiple graphics options. Consider upgrading the GPU or using the lowest settings and resolutions. Rely on the i7 by increasing settings that don’t require much VRAM or significantly affect your FPS. The game performs well at any setting as demonstrated at the 2:16 point in this video. Keep in mind the GPU in question has 4GB of VRAM.
