I just changed an old DC7900 with a Q9400 at 2.667 MHz. I didn’t swap out the cooling, but it seems off. It’s large, black, and bulky, with the cooler attached. I’m curious about how much extra power it needs for a modest overclock from 2.66 to 3.0, and whether it’s safe to do this small adjustment on a standard cooler.

Monitoring temperatures carefully and proceeding gradually ensures stability. (You may not reach 3.0 GHz, but you might approach it) My concern is about the method for increasing the chip's speed. Does this board allow changes to the base clock?
