Can you build a good office computer with what you have?
I still have these components in good condition. Would it be possible to create something more advanced with this setup, or would it be wiser to purchase a completely new PC?
Storage: 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD, 256 GB Crucial MX100 SSD, 1TB HDD
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 4600G with cooler
Memory: 32GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM
Power Supply: Corsair CX650F, CoolerMaster V450 Semi-Modular
Graphics: Gigabyte GV-N970WF3OC-4GD
Case: Fractal Design Node 304 - mini ITX
$100-130 for a new AM4 Mini-ITX board would be ideal. I’d prefer the CX650F over the cheaper V450. For an office PC, the GTX970 isn’t necessary; a 4600G is more than sufficient for regular video work and light gaming.
It depends on your specific requirements. What do you need in terms of WiFi? 5, 6, 6E, or 7? Are there any external storage options you're considering, and do you require fast USB ports? Would you need more than 1Gbps Ethernet? I usually stop at the B550 when evaluating AM4 boards, though I might accept a B450 if it includes BIOS flashback for 4500G support. I have concerns about this project because if you lack a range of AM4 CPUs nearby, you might face problems with BIOS revisions for different generations.
Attempt to locate a motherboard that includes a BIOS flash feature usable without a CPU or RAM.
Or, review the support documentation to confirm the base BIOS version supports that CPU.
