Use a 50-foot LAN cable and get closer to your router. Alternatively, consider replacing the router since that seems to be the issue.

The lengthy cable would appear quite disorganized, and I’m uncertain if I can modify the router.

If running cables isn't an option, wireless or powerline connections work best. However, based on my experience with Comcast, their equipment is quite unreliable. They claim their gear is good, but it often falls short—poor range and speed. I’m actually a Comcast user myself. I use a DOCSIS modem in bridge mode and connect to a separate wireless router. Usually, I get 300-600 Mbps from my laptop upstairs, passing through several walls via a 5G access point.

These are essentially the main options. You might also consider purchasing a device such as a UAP-AC-Lite and turning off wireless functionality on your Comcast unit.

the simplest approach is to obtain a fresh wireless router (pick one according to your preferred review method), reach out to Comcast to have your modem configured in bridged mode, link one of the ports on your Comcast modem (now in bridge mode) to the WAN port on the new router you bought, and follow its standard setup guide that comes with most routers.

You can definitely set up additional routers to handle more devices and music streaming.

You could also use a solid access point and connect it to your Comcast box without worrying about routing.

You can connect as many routers as your Comcast device has network ports for, though the speed is limited by the switch’s capabilities. This setup can lead to a fragmented network and occasional communication issues between devices at those access points. If you’re not concerned about performance, consider reliable whole-home wireless systems—some receive positive feedback and function effectively, but they tend to be more costly. The final choice depends on your budget.
