I just changed out my motherboard, processor, and other stuff. I bought a new copy of Windows 11 but it won't install. I had a working bootable drive from before so I could still start up the computer with the new parts. Wish I'd known that beforehand. I wouldn't have spent money on the new software copy. Does this mean it's useless to me? I'm pretty sure I can update my programs and save them if I don't get confused here. Can anyone help me out? Thanks a ton!

The drive+OS from your old computer might turn on for a second, but it is not sure if it will work correctly next time. If you are trying to install Windows 11? Here is the guide: How To - A clean installation tutorial for Windows 11. This step-by-step guide helps you set up Windows 11 (version 23H2 or newer) on your PC. It can also help with older versions, though some screens might look different; most things will stay the same while you follow these steps to get a clean install going.

Thanks, I am going to check this out. I guess I'm going to lose some software? I already have backups of my files and I've written everything I really need to remember because I originally wanted a fresh start with all new programs.

That drive gets wiped clean and you start over. All your programs go, your computer starts again from scratch.

The guide says you need to make bootable stuff. I bought a Win 11 flash stick for my computer. Is that okay?
