I'm curious about whether water cooling pumps can indeed become hot enough to shorten their lifespan. If you place your pump and reservoir in the rear of your Corsair 540 case without airflow, will it stay cool? Also, just a note—this is the EK-XRES 140 Revo D5 PWM unit you mentioned.

D5's are intentionally water-cooled, with the coolant circulating to regulate temperature. This setup contrasts with a DDC, which may use an external heatsink for better cooling.
