Did the currently damaged mouse enable dedicated buttons to produce the reports? In general, sticking with or using programmable mouse buttons will turn out to be both limiting and troublesome. I wouldn’t suggest dedicated mouse buttons. Simply use the regular mouse—any mouse—to click directly on a menu item or icon to generate the needed reports. This approach is much easier and prevents the creation of various future issues that arise from requiring specific mice and customized button setups. It would likely need frequent updates if the manufacturer changes hardware, software, or support applications, and an unintended press could lead to wasted paper and ink, especially if the printed results contain confidential information. Stick with a standard mouse and avoid programmable buttons. That’s the choice I would take.
