Hello, I need to refresh my BIOS information as I upgrade to a new CPU and faster RAM. My Aorus X470 supports 1.0 AGESA, but the Ryzen 5800X requires 1.2, which is why the update is necessary. I’ve done some research, but this process could be risky, so I’m looking for guidance on updating my BIOS version. My system details are: Ryzen 2600x ASUS TUF 3070ti, Aorus gaming 7, X470 motherboard, 850W PSU, 1TB M.2 16GB RAM, and a 2666 MHz clock speed.

It’s really straightforward. Just download the newest BIOS from Asus’ site, save it to a USB drive, turn off the computer, open BIOS and choose EZflash (likely Asus’ BIOS Update tool), point the thumb drive at the correct file, and press enter. Be sure to get the right file and avoid losing power during the process.

They should save it from Gigabyte’s site instead of ASUS. The download link is typically available on the manufacturer’s page for that specific motherboard. Usually, they’ll also find the setup guides there.

Yes, that’s a reasonable approach. Start with the hardware upgrades, then proceed to download and install the necessary files, and finally update the BIOS.

If a new BIOS is required for the CPU, it must be uploaded first. Otherwise, the motherboard won't recognize the updated processor or how to operate it.
