You might want to give the new UT a shot—it's free and really fun. But keep in mind it's still in pre-alpha. For fans of the Devil May Cry lineup, consider Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance if you're into it. Dishonored is a natural pick since it was at E3. Borderlands 2 from the Second Part is also worth checking out. Figuring out what would take some time is part of the experience.

I'm just getting started with PC gaming. Here are some titles that have brought me joy so far—some are adaptations but still enjoyable. Beyond good and evil (a classic but fun one) Half Life 2, Halo 1-2, Portal 1-2, Crysis 3, and Bioshock Infinite (the best I've played in years, though opinions differ on its predecessors).

I appreciate your style... However, I avoid cliffhangers, so I didn't choose Half-Life 2. I enjoyed Max Payne 3 and BF4, though it had some issues.

All of the Resident Evil series is available for sale on Steam currently. I recently bought Revelations 2 for 0.89 GBP. Top recommendations from that collection on Steam include Resident Evil 4 HD, Resident Evil Remaster, Resident Evil 0, and Revelations 1 & 2.
