I'm considering boosting my CPU performance, but I have a 5-year-old 700W power supply and worry it might cause issues. The capacitors are aging, and since I upgraded from GTX 770 to GTX 1060, the PC isn't loading as much now. Do you have any thoughts on whether it's safe to overclock my CPU with this PSU? It doesn't have any protections.

onni313 is asking about the safety of overclocking a CPU using an old 700W PSU without protections. They mention upgrading from GTX 770 to GTX 1060 and are concerned about capacitor longevity and system stability.

I'm also working with a much more recent version that's suitable for some of my OCs.

I'm using an even older one that worked for some of my OCs. That link is http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?nam...y&reid=165. Back then they had decent PSUs, 😊. Now they're just bad.

The specifications for the 5-year-old PSU are required to evaluate its condition.
