Can I run Dragon quest 11/ without OC?
Here’s a rewritten version of the text, aiming for clarity and conciseness:
You’re encountering issues running “Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age” due to your graphics card – an AMD Radeon R9 285 – which is listed as the minimum requirement for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti. The “Can I Run It” app suggests it's not sufficient, citing a driver that’s over 15 months outdated.
Despite benchmarks showing your R9 285 performing better than the recommended GTX 750Ti in clock speed, the game’s minimum specification is a key factor. You’re considering purchasing the game and attempting to run it, potentially with overclocking to improve performance. Your concerns about shortening the GPU lifespan are valid; however, overclocking alone doesn't necessarily degrade hardware significantly – it’s primarily related to sustained high power draw.
Your system specs – Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 CPU, MSI Z97 PC MATE motherboard, 8GB Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR3 RAM, Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD, MSI Radeon R9 285 2GB GPU, Corsair SPEC-03 case, XFX TS 650W PSU, and a BenQ GL2250HM monitor – are adequate for the game’s requirements. It's worth trying to update your graphics driver before making any further decisions about purchasing the game or investing in new hardware.
You might be able to play the game but playable frame rates will probably be lower than you want it to be. You might even have to cut down on resolution to play the game. Also,
the GPU you have is on par with a GTX1050 per this hierarchy chart
but it's below the RX card listed in the requirements for the game.
Here’s a rewritten version of the text, aiming for clarity and flow:
“To ensure optimal performance, this game requires a graphics card comparable to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050. While an AMD Radeon card is acceptable, your current GPU (a GTX 1050) will likely result in lower frame rates. To mitigate this, you may need to adjust the game's settings, including lowering the resolution, to achieve a playable experience.”
Thanks for the list. Mine's ranked quite a bit above the GTX 750 Ti minimum requirement, so I don't get why the AMD equivalent minimum is ranked so much higher? How accurate are these sites/apps, is there a bit of leeway sometimes?
I don't mind playing it at low res/fps but how low are we talking do you think (potentially), to give me a rough idea?
Also is it worth OC the gpu and how much difference do you think it would make? I've never OC anything lol how much will it affect the lifespan of the GPU?
If a 750 Ti can run it, you ought to be fine; it's not a particularly GPU intense game. Are you getting it on Steam? Steam games have a timeframe to make a return, so the best guess would be to simply buy it and then return it if it doesn't run well on what you have.
