Can i run 3 ram sticks?
Can i run 3 ram sticks?
Both firms don't have a "northbridge" concept because Intel's second generation of CPUs (2011) didn't exist.
It's best to turn off XMP unless all memory sticks match the same timing and speed. You might test enabling it, but if issues arise like crashes or instability, disabling it could be necessary.
Hello, the update is good. It functions well even in docp mode and remains stable. The main issue I’m facing is it doesn’t exceed 2133mhz in BIOS settings, even when using auto. Should I be concerned about this? Are there any ways to resolve it? When using a 16GB stick, the limit stays at 2133mhz.
So, I tested a bit more and this is what I found out. When I put any single stick of ram (8gb or 16gb) in ram slot #3 (B1) since A1 is blocked bye AIO cooler piping, ram speed wont go over 2133mhz. But when I put a single stick in A2 or B2 it uses the full 3600mhz and runs in singe channel which is supposed to do. Also I tested when I put 16gb in A2 and 8gb in B2 (or vice versa) it runs in XMP (D.O.C.P) at 3600mhz in dual channel. So basically I either have 32gb at 2133mhz running in flex mode or 24gb at 3600mhz in dual channel. If anyone know how can I fix the slot B1 so it can run normally at 3600mhz please post a comment or an explanation. Thank you all so much for your help everyone!
This trend seems more applicable to Ryzen1 than Ryzen3. Initially, Ryzen models were very strict about memory requirements, making the QVL more important again. As they evolved through Ryzen1 → + → 2 → 3, the need for strict memory matching lessened. Ryzen3 still isn’t as flexible with memory settings compared to Intel, but it’s also less common. I can imagine non-default configurations failing because the chip designs changed between the first and third generations. It’s worth considering whether extra memory is actually beneficial—most games don’t utilize even 16GB, and meaningful use usually requires specialized software or older browsers. The third stick might not add much value depending on your needs.
