Can I reduce the Turbo Boost Power Max setting on an E3-1245 V3?
Hello, everyone. This will be a slight reduction in performance rather than an increase, but I have an E3-1245 V3 Xeon processor that consistently uses high power. I'm not engaging in tasks that heavily strain the CPU, so I aim to decrease its energy usage since it's consuming too much.
Current configurations:
Turbo Boost Short Power Max: 105W
Turbo Boost Power Max: 84W
Typical CPU usage ranges from 2% to 50% maximum. What adjustments would you suggest for optimal energy savings? Would this affect the CPU or other components?
You could simply enable the power saver plan and set the maximum processor state to 50% or less in the power plan settings. This would restrict the system to under 2GHz across all cores, keeping power usage around 20W or less while still maintaining smooth operation. I tried this with a 1240 v2 and noticed a significant reduction in power consumption.

The process functioned, but the CPU reached 0.8 GHz. Can I modify these settings?
