The NAS isn't really old at all and has worked fine for weeks now, until today when it suddenly stopped making daily copies of files. Nothing changed in the settings or how things are set up yet. Now it just says "standing by" right in the backup area instead of doing anything. If I try to force a quick backup now, nothing happens at all. I have no other ideas except maybe trying to flash the firmware again with some tools. But that option isn't working for me either and I'm not sure how to do it. I really need help from someone who knows what's going on here. And yes, I tried talking to Buffalo and their support team online but got no reply back yet.

Hey there! That NAS link points to a specific manual page where you can check if your firmware is up to date. You need to update the firmware on that exact page 116 in the PDF. Also, are you using NOVABackup? If yes, it might be broken or corrupt. Just try reinstalling it now.

Hey man, thanks so much! I'm checking how close that NAS is to my LS210 right now. I'll look at that page again to see if mine says anything different. No, I wasn't using NOVAbackup. Instead, I just used the HTML interface to check the backup settings. I never actually tried using NOVAbackup before this.

Update: Yeah, it looks like it's mostly the same as my LS210 model, maybe a bit older though. The firmware update works fine. But there doesn't seem to be any way to "re-flash" or reset it. It just keeps saying I have the latest firmware. I think all the parameters are set correctly for backing up from NAS to USB drive, but the backup never actually shows up.

The next day came along and it just reported a failure: "back up failed." No reason was given why this happened. That's what led me to try doing a re-flash as my last resort. Oh well... I guess I should have bought a better NAS in the first place. Anyway, I appreciate the help you gave me!
