Can I push it more?
Can I push it more?
So I began overclocking my RX 470 two days ago and have been making steady progress. I've looked at some other people's setups and think they're doing well too. This is my first attempt at overclocking a GPU, so don't be surprised if I'm still learning.
I'm curious about how much extra FPS I can achieve.
My current build details are:
CPU: i5-4460 3.20Ghz
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
GPU: RX 470 Platinum Edition 4GB
PSU: XFX TS 550W
My overclocking results can be seen here: http://m.imgur.com/ZsjgaLX,sqZQ3M8
My power settings are at: http://imgur.com/a/MBZNO
To be honest, I'm not very experienced with overclocking, so any advice would be really helpful.
I've also heard that tweaking the memory could actually hurt performance, so I haven't tried it yet.
RossTheGuy explained his recent progress in overclocking his RX 470. He shared his setup details and links to his results and watt settings. He mentioned he's a beginner and is curious about the potential gains in FPS.
RossTheGuy has begun adjusting his RX 470 two days ago and has seen steady improvement. It’s his first attempt at overclocking a GPU, so he expects to be a beginner. He is curious about the potential gains in FPS. His current setup includes: CPU i5-4460 at 3.20Ghz, 8GB DDR3 RAM at 1600Mhz, RX 470 Platinum Edition GPU with 4GB memory, and an XFX TS 550W power supply. His recent benchmark results are available online. He also mentions he hasn’t touched the memory yet due to concerns about performance drops. He asked if you could share the pictures of your PC so he can see them.
RossTheGuy :
Okay so I have started overclocking my RX 470 2 days ago and slowly I have been progressing.
I have followed some other guys and I think that it is going pretty good. This is my first time overclocking a GPU so don't be surprised if I am a noob.
My question is how much more FPS can i gain?
This is my build btw:
CPU: i5-4460 3.20Ghz
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
GPU: RX 470 Platinum Edition 4GB
PSU: XFX TS 550W
My overclocking result right now:

Btw I am not experienced with overclocking at all so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have also heard that overclocking the memory will actually make it preform worse so I haven't really touched it.
Just keep overclocking all the way until u hit the limit...Why would u for example overclock to 1050mhz when u can reach
1100

RossTheGuy shared his experience:
He began overclocking his RX 470 two days ago and has been making steady progress. It’s his first time doing so, so he acknowledges it might seem a bit basic. He asks about the potential gains in FPS. His current setup is:
CPU: i5-4460 3.20Ghz
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
GPU: RX 470 Platinum Edition 4GB
PSU: XFX TS 550W
His latest overclocking results can be viewed here: http://m.imgur.com/ZsjgaLX,sqZQ3M8
He also shared his wattage settings at: http://imgur.com/a/MBZNO
He mentioned not being very familiar with overclocking and is seeking advice, especially since he heard memory overclocking could hurt performance. He notes that lowering voltage caused FPS drops but improving it to 1375Mhz gave him 51 FPS before further adjustments. He’s aiming for 1400Mhz and wonders if that’s feasible for his card.
RossTheGuy shared his experience with overclocking his RX 470. He mentioned he began two days ago and has been making progress gradually. He followed other users and believes the results are promising, though he’s new to this process. He asked about the potential FPS improvement and provided details about his system: CPU i5-4460 at 3.20Ghz, 8GB DDR3 RAM at 1600Mhz, a RX 470 Platinum Edition GPU with 4GB memory, and a PSU of XFX TS 550W. He shared links to his current overclocking results and watt settings. Ross noted he hasn’t touched the memory yet because he heard overclocking it could hurt performance, but he’s trying to push the limits until reaching the hardware cap. He also mentioned seeing success with lower voltages, achieving around 51 FPS at 1375Mhz before aiming for 1400Mhz. He concluded that hitting 1375 or 1400 would only result in a tiny difference (about 0.001 fps) and advised sticking to the stable limit.
Makentox shared their experience with overclocking their RX 470 two days ago. They are new to this process and are seeking advice on potential performance gains. They provided details about their system specs and current overclocking results, expressing uncertainty about how much further they could improve. They also mentioned concerns about memory overclocking potentially harming performance and advised sticking to the stable setting. The conversation reflects a learning phase and cautious optimism about reaching the card's limits.
