Vulkan is a graphics API that manages hardware rendering. If you're having issues starting the game, it might be due to compatibility problems or missing drivers. Try updating your graphics drivers or checking the game's requirements.

your drivers might be outdated, which could cause your perf to drop when using 4K with an NVIDIA card. it’s best not to use it in that situation.

The phrase "wont work" usually means something isn't functioning properly. Running the game in a window might help, but if it still doesn't work, it could cause the game to crash.

It doesn't work on every GPU, but I only needed to choose the Vulkan graphics API and apply it. It functioned smoothly on both my old RX 470 and Fury. I haven't used it on my 270X yet, though it's now in a friend's collection. Generally, GCN cards are super into Vulkan, especially in Doom (or they probably dislike OpenGL).

4K is a big waste of resources and what's up with that i5-7500?

It's true. I consistently emphasize ultra settings are pointless. There are no exceptions. If I were the original poster, I'd definitely choose a 4K display.

When you're not playing games, a great 4K IPS display really makes a difference.

I'm testing games in 4K with my 1080 resolution and it's working well. Most titles handle Ultra settings smoothly, and I usually see higher than 60 FPS.

This setup seems quite off-balance. A Ryzen or Intel i7 with a 1070 or Vega 56 would be a more suitable configuration.
