My cpu is: Athlon x4 840
I intend to purchase a Hyper 212 Evo.
My present maximum voltage at 4.0 ghz is 1.413 volts.
Would it be safe for this chip to operate at a higher voltage?

If it includes a heat spreader and has four or more layers, it should generally work well.

With effective cooling it can work, though the processor will still be warm.

I'm not too confident since your MB is also affected; I had an issue when I tried OC on a 2-core Athlon.

Based on my experience, the recommended maximum voltage should be something that ensures safety for the CPU.

To find out if your mb VRm can handle it, you should check its specifications and ensure it matches the requirements of the game or application you plan to use.
