Can I increase the speed of an i7 860 to 3.4 GHz using an Intel H55 board? People suggested overclocking it to that speed, so I want to know if it’s safe to do it on this motherboard.

The motherboard isn't the best choice for overclocking. Additionally, what type of cooler is used with your CPU? To effectively overclock a CPU, you need a good motherboard and a suitable cooler in that area; otherwise, performance will drop significantly.

That motherboard isn't really suited for overclocking either. What kind of cooler is installed on your CPU? To properly overclock a CPU, you need a good motherboard plus a decent cooler in the same area, otherwise you'll reach your limits quickly. I'm using a pre-built PC, so I don't know the exact model, but I do know there are fans involved :/
