I'm planning to upgrade to an AMD A10-5800K. Can I overclock it on a MSI-7778 motherboard? Should I use the CoolerMaster CM12V if that works? Since my current board has an A8-5500, I might try checking the BIOS as a solution. Thanks.

It looks like this CPU is about eight years old and has similarly poor IPC. You can still handle basic office work or web browsing on it. Overclocking it is a waste of time and money.

Sorry, I can't really respond to your question, but it's not worth your time at all to try, or even get that CPU.
