The K series processors feature an unlocked multiplier, allowing you to increase their speed. The optimal method is to adjust them via the BIOS. Alternatively, you can use asrocks OC tuner software to achieve the same result.

You own the Z68 Extreme3?
Begin by installing CPUz and Prime95. Execute a Prime95 stress test (starting with a small FFT) and monitor the CPU voltage via CPUz.
Next, access BIOS (press delete before the Windows logo appears at boot) and adjust the all-core CPU multiplier to 42 for an initial speed of around 4.2GHz.
What cooling solution do you have? Avoid the standard Intel cooler—this chip has been extensively optimized by many enthusiasts.
A quick Google search can uncover numerous overclocking guides.
