Hi everyone,
I currently have a 2×8GB G.SKILL Trident Z Neo 3600MHz RAM installed, but 16GB feels a bit restrictive. I play games such as The Finals and Hogwarts Legacy, and I also use DaVinci Resolve frequently. I’m thinking about adding another 2×8GB kit of the same G.SKILL Trident Z Neo 3600MHz RAM to reach a total of 32GB. The new set would match the same timings, CAS latency, and speed as my current configuration.
Would this combination be compatible, or might there be issues when mixing two identical 2×8GB units? Buying a 2×16GB kit isn’t feasible right now due to high prices in my area.

There could be problems when trying to run a second kit. It may succeed or fail. With your present configuration, a 3200mhz CL16 kit should work, provided the two 16gb 3200 kits fit your budget.

I looked again online, but the 3200MHz 2×16GB kits remain quite costly. So when you say “it might work,” do you think it’s essentially a 50/50 chance?
Edit: If that’s the situation, I suppose I’ll just rely on hoping for a good outcome, which hasn’t always worked well for me 😅. I’ll likely save up until I can afford a real upgrade.

It should work fine, just make sure to update your BIOS for better memory compatibility. The outcome depends on the strength of your memory controller.
