Hello, your Asus ROG Maximus VIII Extreme (z170) has a single M.2 NVMe SSD slot and a U.2 port. It's possible to install two M.2 NVMe drives using a PCIe or U.2 adapter, as long as the hardware supports dual M.2 slots. Just ensure the adapters are compatible with your motherboard model.

When considering PCIe, you need not worry about that u.2. Simply purchase a PCIe to M.2 adapter.
