Can I increase the clock speed of a Ryzen 7 5800X3D?
Can I increase the clock speed of a Ryzen 7 5800X3D?
Generally speaking, I'm in agreement. However, my own 5600x turned out to be a gold sample (hoo). My CPU operates at 4.7 all cores with a 4.9ghz maximum single core (though another core can reach that speed occasionally during testing). Of course, with a 5950x you have a lot of host processing power, making an overclocking adjustment almost unnecessary.
Configure every auto and activated DOCP setting. Activate 5GHz when required.
Yes, enabling the PBO in the BIOS can help you raise the boost frequency and improve its stability during underload.
Sure, let's try pushing your UV a bit further. You could likely achieve a lower setting around 1.25v and see how it performs. Cinebench does a good job by simulating more frequent loads, which might be closer to real-world conditions. From an original configuration standpoint, you might benefit from using Prime 95 small FFTs to thoroughly test the CPU, cooling, and stability—this process can last over eight hours. However, this doesn't capture typical daily usage patterns. If PBO/CO are active on your motherboard, definitely enable them and observe the results. You shouldn’t risk damaging the CPU with just PBO or CO settings. Great spec you have a 5950x at 5ghz—PBO is solid performance. I’m leaning toward almost one-touch OC, but I’ll be honest about the limitations.
On a side note, if you haven’t tried CO yet, it’s definitely worth experimenting with, since reaching 5ghz automatically can unlock more potential from your chip. It seems like you’ve hit a good spot in the silicon.
Undervolt would be my first choice. Check if the reduced voltage enhances its performance. Additionally, improved cooling supports higher CPU speeds. The exact impact remains unclear, but the 5800x3d seems quite special.
I found a guide for a PBO2 tuner and reduced vcore and temps by 30 each core. Now it operates between 1.16 and 1.18v underload with consistent boost at 4450mhz and no drops. Sadly, I can’t increase the frequency, maybe it’s too tight. What about a BCLK overclock? I don’t want peripheral instability.
All BIOS OC functions are set to auto. Only DOCP is enabled. 5950x clock and boost specs are from 3.4GHz to 4.9GHz. 5.0GHz is not unbelievable.
