Can I boost my computer speed with a better cooling system?
Hi everyone, here is my build: I'm using an Intel Core i7-10700K with a Corsair H100i v2 cooler. My board is an Asus STRIX Z490-E Gaming, the RAM is Samsung 970 Pro in 2TB storage (wait, no, it's actually 1TB), and I have two EVGA RTX 2080 Ti GPUs running black G Skill TridentZ RGB Series with 32GB of memory total. The power supply is a 1200W unit, and I've never overclocked my CPU or GPU. I'm wondering if that Corsair cooler is good enough to run the i7-10700K at higher speeds? If yes, could you please share a simple guide for me to start learning about overclocking? Thanks so much!
Before you start, run a simple CPU stress test without changing the clock speed (overclocking) to check how hot it gets on its own.
First, run a simple speed-up test to check how hot your processor gets before you try anything fancy like overlocking it.
Good advice from Zerk2012. But how much better will your CPU performance go with an overclock? Google around to see the 10700k test scores, then check what that extra boost really means for you. If you have solid hardware and are willing to watch the temps stay low even without overclocking, it probably doesn't matter at all.
