Hello, I’m experiencing an issue with my computer. One evening while playing games, I went to sleep and noticed the lights didn’t turn off, but the screen remained black. When I tried to wake it up, it wouldn’t respond. After turning it off and trying to turn it back on, I found the computer wouldn’t show anything and neither did the keyboard nor the mouse lights.

The following day, I attempted various troubleshooting steps. I observed a VGA light on the motherboard. I tried re-seating the RAM, GPU, and CMOS battery, but these changes didn’t resolve the VGA light or display problems. When the PC powers on, all fans spin—including those for the graphics card—and all lights function properly. However, I’m certain it won’t enter Windows because the system shuts down with a single power button press. I’ve confirmed that the graphics card and display cables are working correctly.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas on what might be causing this issue.

Can you check your GPU on a friend's computer to eliminate it as the cause?

Yes. I tried this recently and it started up immediately. The cable also functioned properly. I also checked another functional GPU in my system and observed the same VGA light without a display. I’m considering it could be the motherboard, BIOS, or the PSU power cable.

Hey, I solved my issue! After clearing out my entire PC, the same error kept appearing. I tried using the BIOS Flashback+ feature on my motherboard, and eventually it worked again!

How old is your motherboard? You might want to think about swapping out your CMOS battery.
