Can anyone give me some tips on improving VM performance?

I attempted to uncheck it, ran bcedit and dism from the command line, looked into networking via Device Manager, but nothing related to Hyper-V showed up—even with hidden items enabled. The turtle remains visible.

Hyper-V appears to be turned off, but the turtle remains visible. VirtualBox continues to show poor performance or lag.

That must be part of it. I feel like I'm really close, but I can't find the properties button he's talking about. I can see the adapter in Windows settings, but I don't see a properties button here. I also don't see a properties button in the control panel window, and that one doesn't display those

This might be due to changes over time—some versions from several years ago, like W7, differ significantly from W10/11. Consider reactivating Hyper-V and restarting to check if it appears in the new window.

Are you certain you reached the bottom of the Windows Features screen and cleared those checkboxes in the Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Hypervisor Platform sections? They’re not located in the middle near the Hyper-V settings.
