I think my Corsair RM850x PSU could be the issue because the Ethernet connection drops consistently after a few days after installing a new cable and a new motherboard, even though I've made all the changes and tried again. It seems like the damage might be coming from the PSU itself. I haven't noticed any problems with the NIC, and I also changed everything else. Could there be conflicts with the UPS or electrostatic interference affecting the PSU? Some users reported similar issues but with audio problems instead. Should I replace the motherboard as well? It's not related to the modem. I reached out and even had electricians check the voltage in the home. The issue seems to happen because I disconnect it from the jacks and the same setup works this way. Whenever I replace a cable, it stops disconnecting for a few days initially, then it gets worse more and more, with increasing DCS. Each replacement lasts about 10-15 seconds. I reset the switch, but the router still doesn't change after a few days. This suggests the cable is getting damaged. I also replaced it and added ferrite beads and covered it with isolation tape. If you're curious, there are no event viewer errors linked to it. I've been trying to fix it since April. I changed many cables, all PC parts twice, mostly just the motherboard.
The only remaining issue is some EMI interference. I tried running all the cables through the wall again. I've also noticed that connecting them to another jack near the chimney caused more problems with fluids and interference.
I handled it before, didn't fix it, just changed from Realtek to Intel.
You can inquire as many times as you like, but based on my attempts it seems connected to some unstable voltage that damages things after a few days and then weeks. I mostly play games on PC and before switching to a new motherboard and Ethernet it became unplayable. But now that I changed the motherboard and cable too, earlier changes helped, though I don’t want to buy high-quality cables every couple of days. I’ve tried Monoprice Cat 6a, Cat6 kabledirekt, cablematters and now CSL every time, because of their Cat8 quality. I know I don’t need them at home, but they seem to work better from what I see. The thinner the cables, the faster disconnections occurred.
Router or modem may overheat and restart. Or there could be a bug issue with them. This leads to the symptoms you're experiencing. A lightning strike in your area can damage network gear. Have you encountered something similar recently? Cables don't usually break without reason. Have you inspected them and noticed they aren't functioning properly?
Have you experimented with Wi-Fi? If you have ample mobile data and a strong signal, you might use a hotspot to temporarily bypass external network problems caused by cables or routers.
