So I'm not sure where to share this, so I'm just posting it here.
I plan to buy an i5-3570k with a Z68 motherboard, 4GB RAM, and a GTX 970. The issue is my PSU is only 500W. Can I remove the CPU and GPU without overheating the PSU?

It will function just fine as you won't likely reach 350w. But what kind of PSU should you choose? It's important to ensure it's at least good quality. You might consider Corsair's CX450M for $30.

I own a brand Njoy rated at 80+bronze. I'm unsure if it can maintain 4.2ghz performance.

I wouldn't suggest it. I would choose the Corsair CX450M. It's an additional cost, but only $30.
