Hi, I need to understand the new compliance rules about how long security footage must be stored. I'm looking for a security camera that works with my NAS inside a rack and can connect via Ethernet without needing Wi-Fi. Since the data center doesn't have Wi-Fi, wireless IP cameras aren't an option. Do you know any good infrared cameras that also support wired connections? I don’t mind a moderate field of view because it will be placed directly in the rack. Let me know!

The extended playback needs a new camera because the current setup can only store data for up to 60 days. The older system doesn’t support longer saves, so you need a newer device to continue recording.

the data centre won't go beyond 90 days because other users are already there. that means we need to rely on our own cameras and NAS now. kind of silly, I know, but yeah...

It might just be for fun, but it seems you need extreme caution when picking your model. You don’t have to watch the entire thing to understand what I mean. A short 10 minutes should be enough. TL;DW claims security cameras are a major headache and should be discarded.

For premium options consider Axis, while Hikvision suits budget needs. Both offer numerous models to select from. Handle the camera’s management interface similarly to IPMI on a server—this ensures no security risks. I mean completely restrict access; never assign the camera a public IP. If you must forward it, apply ACLs to allow only your known office IPs.
