Call of Duty: Cold War FPS and Upgrade Path
Call of Duty: Cold War FPS and Upgrade Path
I'm playing Call of Duty Cold War on High settings (1080p) and observing FPS between 50 and 70. When HDR is turned on, it falls to around 30. Does this align with what you expect?
If so, exploring an upgrade route—possibly in CPU and motherboard—to boost performance seems reasonable.
Current configuration:
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
GPU: RTX 2060
RAM: 2 x 8GB DDR4-3600
MoBo: Asus Prime B350-Plus
Monitor: LG Ultragear 27GL63T
PSU: 750 watt gold
Hardware Settings:
GPU: Clock +147, Mem Clock +900, G-sync enabled
CPU: No overclocking
As a note, GPU temperatures reach up to about 79 degrees. I have a solid case and ample fans/ventilation. This appears normal for the card. No signs of thermal throttling. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Sorry for the delayed reply. Despite not getting many suggestions, I still went ahead with the upgrades.
Yes, ray tracing was turned on.
After switching the motherboard to X570 and the CPU to Ryzen 9 3900x, I noticed a boost in FPS without any CPU bottlenecks in afterburner.
Upgrading to an RTX 3080 further enhanced performance.
My research suggests that enabling HDR might reduce my frame rate by 10 to 20 fps.
This doesn't seem correct. On my R5 1600X and 1070, I consistently achieve around 90-100fps without any frame drops even at high settings, so ray tracing is likely enabled.
