He keeps asking for my opinion on a laptop that handles CAD, but I’m new to the subject. Should I focus on the graphics card, the processor, or plenty of memory?

It seems you need a powerful processor and ample memory, but a laptop might not always be the top choice for performance.

He had a solid CPU setup back then—around 2008, using a second-gen P4 3D renderer for lots of CAD work and heavy processing unless you were willing to splurge on Teslas.

I’d recommend a stronger option just in case, to be safe, though it should work well with most programs. If they also offer rendering, expect even better results. The GPU shouldn’t cause any issues.

She should prioritize a laptop with a solid processor and at least 8GB of RAM. For 3D work, a separate graphics card is also necessary.
