I received a Chinese 2.5GB switch and it’s unclear if that’s typical. Reading and writing appear significantly slower than expected, around 10MB/s for certain files, with a peak of about 1.5Gbps during one test.

Does this same connection maintain consistent performance when connected to a standard Gigabit port? The reported speed of 10 MB/sec resembles Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps), which might indicate an issue since such a setup typically requires two pairs of wires for proper operation.

You notice larger files reaching 1.5gbps while smaller ones lag behind.

This was my first attempt at upgrading to 2.5 GB using an affordable switch. I opened it up to check what was inside and noticed a tiny heatsink and a thermal pad attached to the metal body. During this process, I transferred several large 500 MB video files.

My current upload speed is around 80-100MBPS, but I won't be sure until Wednesday when I check the speeds again after the snapshot is completed.

Check the NIC, network card, or motherboard you're employing for both your PC and the NAS.

Asrock Z790 live mixer supports 2.5 Gigabit LAN with speeds up to 2500 Mb/s. Dragon RTL8125BG works well with Realtek HDDNAS gaming lan, but you may need a compatible TRINAS PCE adapter for full functionality.

Maybe I reworked the ISP coax line so I could use my 2.5GB switch with a shorter Cat6 cable. I’m hoping the cables that came with the router are better. I have two yellow ISP cat cables—one for internet and another to my SSDNAS—and an outdoor Cat6 cable from the PC to the switch box. It seems more stable now than before.

Noted your comment, assumed it was the other side, and currently the SSD NAS is running at 15MB/s.

I think the problem is fixed. I rewired the coax for the ISP so the box is nearer my NAS devices. Now I only use two 3-foot cat cables from the ISP box to the 2.5GB switch, and a long Cat6 cable to my main gaming PC. So far everything reads and writes at 2.5GB smoothly. A Nas reboot is coming soon. Eventually I plan to upgrade to a 10GB NVMe drive for my HDD NAS because it’s not significantly more costly than a 2.5GB one.
