Looking for the top internet cable for your setup? The one you're thinking of is likely a standard Ethernet cable, often labeled as an "Ethernet cable" or "network cable." There are various types, but they all connect to the back of your computer via the mainboard. For a stable connection, consider cables with good quality and proper shielding—like Cat5e or Cat6. Let me know if you need more details! Thanks!

In general, a Cat5e connection works well for most needs.

The protocol is also referred to as "Ethernet." You can find short cables on Amazon under that name.

It's referred to as "Ethernet," with various versions available. Cat 5 supports up to 100Mbps, the outdated Cat 5e reaches about 1 Gbps, standard Cat 6a offers around 10 Gbps, though it's pricier but widely used. Cat 7 is costly and rare, while Cat 8 is designed for data centers.

I believed Cat8 hadn't been developed yet, but I think it's actually Cat9.

You're looking for ways to tell the difference between high-quality and low-quality Cat 5e cables. Since prices vary by brand, focus on checking specifications, manufacturer reputation, and customer reviews. Look for certifications like TIA/EIA or FCC, and compare performance ratings. Testing with a multimeter or using a quality tester can also help identify genuine cables.

When you see them face-to-face, show off the flexibility. If it feels rigid, skip it—it’s probably CCA and not ideal. Opt for a copper cable instead.
