i was just playing my game when a popup appeared in the corner of my screen, asking me to upgrade to premium antivirus bytefence. I hadn't installed it before, so i uninstalled it only to find chromium auto-installed unexpectedly. Several extensions showed up on my normal chrome that weren't mine, which changed my default search engine to yahoo. anyone know why this happened and what should i do? also, malwarebytes detected a threat, and powershell opened without any reason.
If PowerShell appeared automatically and several add-ons were added to your browser, plus extra programs were installed on your device without your consent, then you’re likely compromised. There’s no straightforward solution; each case is unique and tackling them demands significant expertise. You might manage to remove it with AdwCleaner, but because PowerShell is involved, the registry could contain hidden encrypted instructions that still run. Still, you could attempt AdwCleaner and set up Comodo Firewall to monitor internet connections and restrict the spread. However, it’s possible you’ll need to format the drive or seek advice from someone skilled—preferably not remotely.
