Clearing the BIOS password is simple as resetting the CMOS, which explains why some devices include physical locks. While a BIOS password is convenient, accessing the CMOS battery removes that protection entirely.

Most manufacturers store passwords in the BIOS/UEFI chip, not in ROM. Removing the battery won’t erase them. You typically need a specific code to reset it. If you contact the manufacturer, they might provide one if your device is covered under warranty or support.

It always helped for me, but I usually just tried it on Dell products. Results might differ with other brands.
