Buying SC
They’ll rely on small in-game purchases, so regular players won’t have to pay recurring fees while wealthy users can advance faster. Packages remain their main payment method, but after the full release you’ll need to buy in-game items or use microtransactions.
Your making it sound that its so bad its just another pay to win game. Also what "monthly pass" are you talking about??? First: we cant buy Ships trough Microtransaktion at release. Second: we can´t Buy enough "ingame" credit to buy a ship nor mater how deep your pockets are, there is a limit. and thats all i know, my guess is that Hangar decoration and stuff will be part of the Microtransactions. No Weapons. No Ships No Raw Materials.
Micro payments don’t negatively affect games unless they create unfair advantages for some players. Offering exclusive items or perks for purchases definitely encourages competition. Companies must generate revenue to keep their operations running; otherwise, funds vanish quickly. Games that provide cosmetic upgrades tied to microtransactions often see users lose interest once they realize the value is limited. Those that expand options for more features appeal to those with more time, allowing flexibility without spending. Cosmetics are typically optional and outside core game balance, which is generally acceptable.
The monthly pass I mentioned comes from companies like WoW and Eve, which charge extra fees to access the servers. Star Citizen doesn’t offer one, so it will likely rely on microtransactions for UEE credits. Although there might be a weekly spending cap, the amount you can spend isn’t strictly restricted to certain items or utilities. That’s the general understanding based on what I’ve read.
This setup works well because everyone can earn rewards no matter their payment amount, making it accessible rather than limited to specific users.
This game doesn’t have ranking systems, so you won’t need to worry about being outmatched by higher-level players. Whether you’re just beginning or have been playing for a long time doesn’t matter. It mainly depends on the ship and gear you possess, along with your own abilities as a gamer. Also, you can only accumulate 150,000 UEC at once—not weekly limits. Even if you purchase UEC through money at launch, you must manage it wisely to avoid misuse.
